How Is Rabid Contracted

My beautiful German Shepherd named ‘German’, was only 3 years old when we lost her to rabies. Many of you would think wasn’t she vaccinated or wasn’t she indoor and so on, but the real reason lies in the detail below.

I wish to share with you all that it doesn’t really matters whether your dog is vaccinated or indoors, it depends on what is contracting the virus.

1) Vaccinations;

2) Diet;

3) Health History;

4) How did she contract she contract the virus and from where.

To answer all the questions I would answer them altogether for you understand much better. My German (we named her German because we were loss of names lol, as we had handful of different breed of puppies so whatever came in mind, we named her). She indeed was the best dog and yes like other pets, her absence is felt at all times and whenever I see a Gsd, it reminds me of her. Like every pet holds a special space and feeling similarly, the same is with German. I would like to tell that despite of being annually vaccinated she contracted the disease #Rabies. It is something that one can do nothing about it and the signs are particular. Once, she caught a rat in the garden and killed it. After a certain period of time, (6months) all a sudden, one morning she was biting the walls, her tail tucked in between her hind legs, eyes blood red and saliva pouring from mouth. As soon as I saw her in this condition, I immediately called the vet and took her to the Hospital. Upon taking her the Vet, they checked her temperature which was 107.4 (high) they told me to call her by her name, I did but she wasn’t responding and she was looking here and there, looked scared and wasn’t in her senses really. She was sitting at the corner while the vet kept ice slabs on her body to lower down the temperature, they also gave her IV and later in the evening they sent her home. I took her home, tried to give her food, her favourite meal, she didn’t eat. As the Vet called me for her IV, I took her there while she was having her second dose of drip, she started howling, and shaking her head ferociously, and then that was the moment where she showed the sign of Rabies. She kept on barking at everything and every person present there. I called her name but she didn’t respond. That was the last time when I actually called her by her name. Later she was put to sleep as nothing could save her, her nervous system was totally damaged because of the rat.

What we learned from this incident is that Rodents do have a virus, and if they eat rat poison which we keep in our gardens or in the kitchen to avoid rats. If any dog gets hold of that infected rat, automatically the virus is transmitted through the teeth veins to the brain cells. As the virus goes in the blood vessels and destroys the whole nervous system eventually causing the animal Rabies.

How Adoption Works In Pakistan

Adoption of pets is easy but when it comes to street dogs, it’s damn difficult as people only wish to buy good breeds. This argument has come a long way and for Animal Enthusiasts, it really becomes difficult when people show hatred towards the street dogs, without even understanding that even the street dog is going to shower the same love and affection as any other branded breed!

This image tears our heart out as for us, it doesn’t makes a difference. Just because a street dog is not of a good breed, it won’t get adopted instead he would be a pity for every trespasser. These street dogs won’t be visible to us if people stopped breeding dogs every-time. Force breeding is a major concern, breeders wish to sell the litter of the best of the best breeds and earn money which causes major health issues in the mother and the litter.

People don’t understand the basic detail of every animal and what they are getting into, all they know is to buy a good breed and have a litter and to sell it off on a good price which is totally Insane!

You are not an animal lover if you feel pitty for a stray dog and buy an expensive breed! Animal lover is the one who accepts and gives shelter to all the animals and all the breeds no matter if they are street dogs or a good blood line. It is all about one’s thinking and perception.

Nanny Dogs AKA PitBulls

Despite of various researches and experiments, we are still at large when we come to think of PitBulls. Why the breed discrimination? In UK and some states of United States Of America, PitBulls are considered to be ‘ferocious breed’ and are not preferred to be kept as pets.

They might be ferocious but are perfect guard dogs. They tend to have the most tender heart for the children and in the 1800s, they were often called “Nanny Dogs” because of their protective behaviour towards children.

Well if you have been a victim or you know someone who has come across a abnormal behaviour of a PitBull as a pet, then do let us know because all we know is that they are an animal and a beautiful adorable pet, if trained right.

Stop The Battle Of Breeds

Since the time I have grown up, I have realised that the Human is very self centred and concerned only about what he owns and what’s the worth of his belongings. This also includes the massive breeds.

Breed race has been there since the time I wasn’t even brought on earth. With the set knowledge and know how about things, it is very much agreeable if I say that the animals we own are not for ourselves but for show off! Yes, wherever you go, if you are an animal lover, then that defines you as a status symbol. The more the imported and fancy breeds a person has, the more the praises he receives and the worst part is, the poor animal is just used as their greed and show-off. The breed race is pretty common now in most of the countries, despite of people like me who are pure “animal advocate” and breeds don’t matter to us. Pet owners are pretty amused with the fact of being involved in and around their pets, and the more the time they spend with them is what counts as a blessing for them.

The love and care from the pet doesn’t gets any less if it is not of a good breed. So what if he is a stray, doesn’t he has feelings to be adopted? He only acquires love, attention and devotion. It is pretty sad to see that in the race of Breeds, people have forgotten the ethic sense on how to keep an animal with all their respective characteristics.

As the time is passing, I can see that the number of pets are increasing and the more they will be abandoned. I just pray that all the poor animals just have a peaceful life which they deserve. Every animal has the right to live on this Earth.
