Common Health Problems In Dogs

We all love our pooches and they depend on us for a good care. We should be very concerned towards our dog’s health when we know how well they are concerned for us. To help your canine friend live a healthy life-we have brought to you the most common health issues that have been observed in the dogs.

  1. Ear Infections: This is a common problem and is caused by allergies, yeast, ear mites, bacteria, hair growth deep in the ear canal. Symptoms are; Head shaking, Ear Odor, Vigorous scratching, Lack of balance, Redness of the ear canal, Swelling of the outer portion of the ear
  2. Worms: Roundworms, Hookworms, Tapeworms are most common internal parasites in dogs but in some cases, even a hookworm can be fatal in puppies. Symptoms; Diarrhea (blood), Weight loss, Dry coat, Vomiting (roundworms to be specific)
  3. Fleas: It is not your dog who runs after the fleas, in fact it is the flea that gets attracted to the smell of your dog and attaches itself to it. Symptoms; Excessive scratching, biting on the skin, Hot spots, Allergic dermatitis, Flea dirt
  4. Hot Spots In Your Dog: Hotspots are inflamed, red area which is often seen on dog’s skin (bacteria infection). It can be easily treated if the visit to the Vet is made promptly. Treatment: It can be treated by either cleaning the irritated area, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs or depending on how the hot spots are
  5. Vomiting: This is the most common health problem which has numerous cases. It can be caused by infection or intestinal parasites to pancreatitis, kidney failure, heatstroke, poisoning and many more… Treatment depends on what’s causing a dog’s distress and it may include fluid therapy, contact the Vet as soon as possible.
  6. Diarrhea: The first thing comes to mind is various causes which may include, Parco virus, intestinal infection, food side-effects. Symptoms: Loose and watery stool. This form of illness can easily lead to dehydration and it is very important to keep your dog hydrated by giving him clean water, and a watch on his temperature, whether the pooch is feeling lethargic. All these symptoms are to be watched out and to demand treatment asap.
