This infection is also associated with Hygiene, this is a practice which one should always take into consideration because, it is the hands that we use a lot and we without fail, touch our face often. Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane that covers the white part of the eye and the inside of the eyelids. While pink eye is more commonly associated with humans, it can affect animals as well, including cats, dogs, and horses.

Pink eye in animals is typically caused by different pathogens than in humans. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergies, irritants, or other underlying health conditions. The specific causative agent can vary depending on the species. It is generally not common for humans to transmit pink eye to their pets or for pets to transmit pink eye to humans. However, it’s important to practice good hygiene and take precautions if either you or your pet has pink eye. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling your pet and avoid direct contact with your eyes. If your pet shows signs of conjunctivitis, such as redness, discharge, or excessive blinking, it’s best to consult with a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Overall, while there is a potential for the spread of pink eye between humans and animals, it is not a common occurrence. Proper hygiene and timely veterinary care can help prevent the spread of pink eye in both humans and their pets.

Keep in mind, unlike in Covid, don’t abandon your pets, as they need your care the most and similar to as your child.
