Do you have any idea of why these Cats follow you around when you feed them? Couple of reasons that we have come around as are below,
- Food and Hunger: Stray cats are often in a constant search for food, and they may follow humans in the hope of receiving handouts or finding a source of nourishment. They may have learned that people can be a potential food source.
- Socialization: Some stray cats are more social and less feral than others. They may approach or follow humans because they have had previous positive interactions with people or have not yet become completely feral. These cats may be seeking companionship or are more open to human contact.
- Curiosity: Cats are naturally curious animals, and they may follow humans to investigate their surroundings, scents, and activities. They might be interested in what people are doing or simply exploring their environment.
- Seeking Shelter: Stray cats may follow humans to seek shelter or a safe place to rest. If a cat is in need of warmth, protection from the elements, or a place to hide, it may choose to follow a person who can provide such resources.
- Previous Positive Experiences: Some stray cats may have had positive interactions with humans in the past, such as receiving food, affection, or care. These positive experiences can make them more likely to approach or follow humans.
- Loneliness: Cats are social animals to varying degrees, and some may feel lonely or isolated when living as strays. Following humans might be an attempt to find companionship or interaction.
It’s important to approach stray cats with caution and be aware that their behavior can vary greatly. Not all stray cats are friendly or safe to approach, and they might carry diseases or have unpredictable temperaments. If you encounter a stray cat that you’d like to help or interact with, it’s advisable to contact a local animal shelter or rescue organization to assess the situation and provide appropriate care and support for the cat.
