Anglerfish are enigmatic creatures that inhabit the deep seas around the world. These mysterious beings have fascinated humans for centuries, and yet, much remains unknown about their lives. The average lifespan of anglerfish in the wild is approximately 6-8 years. However, some species, such as the deep-sea anglerfish, can live up to 20 years. This remarkable longevity is likely due to the slow pace of life in the deep sea, where food is scarce and predators are few. The extended lifespan of anglerfish helps them adjust to the harsh deep-sea conditions. In this environment, survival is a daily struggle. Anglerfish are deep-sea dwellers that inhabit areas with low light levels, typically between 200-1,000 meters below the sea surface. They are found in oceans around the world, from the warm waters of the tropics to the cold, icy waters of the Arctic and Antarctic. Anglerfish are skilled predators that use their bioluminescent lure on top of their head to attract prey. They are also known to form symbiotic relationships with other deep-sea creatures, such as bacteria and fungi.

While anglerfish do not regularly visit the surface, there are some exceptions. During their larval stage, some anglerfish species may drift towards the surface before descending back into the depths. This brief journey to the surface allows them to feed on plankton and small crustaceans, which are abundant in the surface waters.
In rare cases, adult anglerfish might be caught in fishing nets or washed up on beaches after strong storms. However, this is not a deliberate attempt to visit the surface. Instead, it is often a result of accidental capture or displacement due to extreme weather conditions.
