Has anyone of you experienced Pet Seizure? Those who have, might be knowing what is it and those who haven’t, then probably this post is meant for you.

Seizures are basically caused by an abnormal brain activity. This is very devastating to witness your pet go through and also they vary in severity. The Seizures should not be ignored at the first place. As it can include, epilepsy, brain tumors, trauma, low blood sugar, low calcium levels, high blood pressure and liver disease.

It is true that epilepsy is found more in certain dog breeds than others and it hits relatively to young and middle aged dogs, whereas, Cats are rarely affected.

What is Epilepsy? It is a term for neurological disorder characterized by Seizure or syndrome of recurrent seizures. At times, it is caused by a trauma, a toxin, brain tumor, an infection or an issue with your pet dog’s blood, kidneys or other organs.

It is then important to have the relative diagnosis done which includes as below:

  • Complete blood count and/or blood chemistry profile
  • Liver function tests
  • Urinanalysis
  • Blood pressure tests
  • Imaging studies such as a CT or MRI scan
